Ryan Peterson

Assistant Clinical Director | MA, LPCC, NBCCH

I am a Licensed Clinical Counselor and a National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. Most people sense a need for change but feel unsure of how or where to begin. I work to first understand your inner landscape, and from there we collaborate to generate an ongoing therapeutic process of living a more fulfilling, integrated and authentic life. I am often helping clients find a healthy balance between self-acceptance and compassionate self-discipline, while building out your unique instruction manual for life. I bring creativity, compassion, and a touch of playfulness to my therapeutic work.

Hypnotherapy is one of the tools I use to facilitate personal growth. Unlike stage hypnosis, Hypnotherapy is a respectful, collaborative process of guiding you into a therapeutic trance, allowing you to access aspects of your psyche that are often difficult to reach through therapeutic conversation alone. It's important to understand that hypnosis is a state of focused attention and deep relaxation, not unconsciousness. You remain aware and in control throughout the process. This approach can be highly effective for addressing a range of issues including depression, general anxiety, social anxiety, self-esteem, intrusive thoughts, patterns of rumination, addiction, trauma, and chronic health issues. Hypnotherapy can also be a great tool for exploring and better understanding your authentic self, as well as navigating major life transitions. In addition to Hypnotherapy, my work draws from Existential and Narrative theoretical frameworks.

I also facilitate group therapy, provide clinical supervision as well as mentoring and consultation services to other professionals. I serve as the Assistant Clinical Director at St. Paul Psychotherapy, and am on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis. I live in Roseville with my family and two dogs. In my free time, I enjoy reading, board games, pickleball and podcasts.
